moving on

Some of you have asked about what we're up to with all this talk of packing and apartment hunting...
Well, we're moving to the Bay Area...that's right...California.
I've been working from a distance for lark since May, and now that Robert's graduating (yay!), it's time to make the move. We're going to be living in the San Mateo area (which is between San Francisco proper and Cupertino).
We're excited and nervous...and I may post more here...but I've been blogging a little more over at my fancy lifestyle blog: mudpiemagnolia
I've included a list of FAQ on the move:

When are you moving? At the end of December. My sweet in-laws are going to help with final packing.

What's Robert going to do? Robert will be eating bonbons and watching Duck Dynasty...or helping with a start-up missional coffee shop (more details to come once it's launched - but it's awesome)

Is it more expensive to live in SF? Um, absolutely. It is ridiculous. But there's really cool stuff to do and eat.

Will you stop and visit me on your cross-country move? Sounds great. Tell us where you are and what's for dinner.

Will you miss St. Louis? STL has definitely grown on us, and we're going to miss a lot of things about it...especially our friends :(

Can I visit? PLEASE! We love visitors! Rufus will share his bed with you.

high of 18

that's right. last night an ice storm hit stl, and there's a predicted high of 18.

If you see another post from me in the next 72 hours, it will mean that we have won the case of Stowers v. AT&T.

I really hope we win this one. It's been about 3 months since we signed up for internet service...so I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much...

Anyway, I have to work on a project right now for my new video job (yes, that's right - but more to come on that - hopefully in the next 72 hours :)

a few quick updates

Unfortunately, we went through a little fiasco with the internet...but it looks like we'll at least get it sometime in the near future. However, we are lucky to live close to Jason and Megan where we can siphon internet from the backyard.
If you haven't already checked out our super cute nephew, Colton, you should head over to his blog...well his and his parents' blog: stowersfamilyblog.blogspot.com. He was a very scary jack o lantern for halloween. We really want to meet him, but it looks like it might be a little bit.
Big news this past week (besides of course Halloween - for which we put on some Domo pumpkin pillowcases, went pumpkin picking/carving, and made lots of apple-y treats) was that i officially launched my website. I have been working on it for a bit, and finally got a domain name, and published it. I've been applying to some places, and send it along to show some real live work.
soooooo - tell all your friends to check out: www.laescuelafilms.com.
Robert's Starbucks is closing, so he's getting shifted to another store that's a little further from our house, but right in between our house and seminary. It's next to a Neiman's, Saks, and Williams Sonoma Home - so he'll hopefully be meeting lots of rich older women who will think he's cute and tip him lots of money. Side note about the Neiman's - there's a place in there called Zodiac. Apparently, it's THE place for ladies who lunch. Ever since my falling in love with The Picnic and Food Company, I have a special place in my heart for these kinds of places, so I'm hoping to save up my money, and go next spring in a completely pastel outfit.
So seriously...about this ChaCha thing - it's pretty sweet, and if you want to join up, I will give you tips on how to pass the test. Brittany Smith and I are going to conquer the ChaCha universe!
That's about all we have happening right now - you can pray for our cars - they need some work, and we're trying to do it bit by bit, but hoping nothing crazy goes wrong in the meantime.
We're pretty excited about Thanksgiving - my brother, Dan is coming to visit us, and we are joining the Perrin family for Thursday. And we're so excited to see Ben and Erin cause we've missed having them as neighbors. Woot.

sorry we are lame

it's our internet's fault.
we are trying to save cash by not getting internet. and we've held out well until this point. now it's about to be necessary.
anyway...no developments around here. we had our first party on friday, and it was fun. we played some trivial pursuit, and walked to the park for the balloon glow.
our little nephew, Colt, is supposed to be born tomorrow. I bought him a "you're born" present yesterday, but you know, you have to wait til they're actually born to send it (so it'll be on it's way soon, Lindsay :)
i'm currently hanging out in the library, waiting for Cha-Cha to finish my registration process. If you don't know what ChaCha is, google it.
some fun news, though not super exciting, is that we have Starbucks health insurance! yay! It's way cheaper and way better than our temp. plan, and now we can use that money to pay for school.
i will try to craft a more exciting blog sometime soon.

Firsts

I finally got offered drugs. I felt like this was a pivotal life event that every person had experienced except for me. We were on our way to hear Katy and Kenny Hutson play, found ourselves pretty lost, and got motioned over by a couple of guys who asked if we we "wanted some of that bud". We didn't. (don't worry)

Also, we're getting our bikes beautified at the alpine shop so that soon we'll have calves of steel.

We visited Old Orchard church this morning. It was cool, and they gave us taco salad afterward. Yummmmy.

We also visited Culver's for lunch on Friday. SO good. And the frozen custard. SO good. I was full the rest of the day.

For those of you concerned about Rufus behaving himself, the Gentle Leader has worked wonders. Also, he has stopped being as growly, and made several friends this week.

Robert starts class on Thursday! More updates to come on that.

we made it!

We made it to St Louis just fine. Several great RUF/seminary friends helped us unload, so things got loaded into the house really quickly! Now it's pretty much unpacked...just not nested-in yet.
As far as jobs, things worked out well with all that too. Robert transferred to Starbucks here in the mall (where I work at Apple), so we can continue being mall-daters. I also am working part time at a local outdoors outfitter called the Alpine Shop. Had my first day today, and it went fine - it's just working a register, which isn't too hard to handle. Hopefully this means we can get some cool bikes. Also, I'm super excited cause I got a job with TOMS shoes (www.tomsshoes.com) - I go around to the stores in the St Lou area, check in with them and make sure they're getting what they need, and helping them with events, etc. Obviously, I love shoes, so this is an exciting prospect. Also, with this job, I can justify getting an iPhone.
Here's a brief rundown on everything else:

HOUSE: much better now that I've bleached the bathroom. I'm usually anti-harsh chemicals, but a bathroom is something that better have all traces of previous owners erased from it. Things are getting put away and organized. Hopefully we can get some pics up sometime. Rufus loves being inside, so that's pretty fun, or pretty annoying when he's being a brat.

COFFEE/FOOD: found a few good places. One's walking distance from our house, which is nice...I'm at a place called Kayak's right now, but I'm enjoying a Fitz's instead of coffee. (this great soda company here). Robert and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary by going to this AMAZING place called The Chocolate Bar. If you come visit us, we'll find an excuse to go there again.

FRIENDS: So fun to live 2 doors down from Jason and Megan (who Robert went to school with). Also, there's a lot of others that live close by who we just haven't seen yet, or have had mixed up schedules. We already miss you Nashville friends :( We want you to come visit us!!!

I'm getting tired of typing, so that's it for now. More to come as we explore the city!
